Frank Faulkner (local butcher)held an annual bonfire and fireworks night on the land in front of the wooden cottages (now Betting Shop). In the fields opposite the Plough on (Summer?) Saturdays there was a drag hound meet, horses would drag a sack of meat across the fields to be followed by the huntsmen in full hunting clothing. And once a visit by a flying circus, with 2 or 3 Bi-planes giving rides and doing stunts, in the fields around Green Lanes.
