Chessington Rd was Upper Marsh, Lower marsh was around Heatherside. Kids from the two areas never mixed! All the local children from as far as Bonesgate went to Ewell for school. There was a Sunday School in a hut behind the Bungalow Stores (late 30's). There was also a man called Boyd Smith who used to take local children to the coast for the annual All Saints Sunday School outing. He would march the children in a column to the station down Chessington Rd ringing a large hand bell. They would take a steam train to either Bognor or Littlehampton. They would make hand windmills to stick out the windows of the train as it went along. The "Kingston Roadies" and the "Ewellers" and the "West Ewellers" would fight over the use of a punt that was used on the Hogsmill.
